More great progress (after much regression...)

OK, it's been a while since I've posted about my little guy. There is a reason for this. When he started preschool in September, he was so excited about the fun he was having there. About mid-way through October, he suddenly realized that school had expectations for him, and there was a lot of "work" to be doing with his teachers and therapists. That's when he started to rebell, behaviorally. We are still dealing with this behavior, and much of it is happening at home in the presence of myself and daddy...

So, there have been some setbacks, but as I was hoping and praying for another breakthrough, it has happened! First of all, this was the first Christmas that Alec understood how to open his presents, and was excited to explore all of his new toys! A big difference from past years where he wasn't interested in opening gifts at all.

Next, we learned that Alec has a special skill with building blocks. This time last year, he could still not stack one block on top of another (at least not consistently). For Christmas he got a nice set of classic building blocks, and for the first time since starting preschool, we got to see his special talent. He can now build "towers" that are quite tall, and when a block starts to wobble, he steadies it and stops it from falling over. This is motor skill that has evolved so much in the past year!

Just last night, while I was on the phone, Alec was drawing on his Magnadoodle. Most of his "drawings" have consisted only of scribbles and sometimes circles. I looked down at him and realized that he had drawn his first face, complete with two eyes and a mouth! He then proceeded to erase that picture and move on to the next -- what looked like a sun with rays, or a bug with long legs! Either way, we had NEVER seen him draw like this before!

So, as we work through his behavior issues at home, it is comforting to see that he is still progressing and learning new skills. And, best of all, he just loves to play with his baby sister! She is now 20 months old, and adores her big brother.

It has been so wonderful to be helping other parents in the community who are looking to heal their children's bodies, and seeing wonderful things happen. My wish is that there will be many more blogs just like mine cropping up soon!
