More progress to report!

A few weeks ago, I added a new supplement to Alec's schedule. I had learned that adding water-soluable vitamin E liquid at the same time as the Cod Liver Oil could boost brain function. So, we tried it. The results have been wonderful! Mostly with Alec's drawing abilities...I had written that last month he drew his first face. A couple weeks ago, he started drawing hair on the head, and added a nose. A few nights ago, he drew ears and a neck on the head as well -- and then called it "daddy"!!! This is a huge breakthrough for him! And, it's in direct connection with something new that was added.

Another area where he has improved is his attachment to "blankies". Yes, it's plural. He now has two of them... But -- it used to be a war in the morning to take them away before getting on the bus. A few weeks ago, daddy was trying to teach him to "drop blankies" on the floor before heading down the stairs for the bus. A couple of days ago, he VOLUNTARILY dropped his blankies and happily said, "Drop blankies!". We almost fainted! Our goal is to make him less reliant on these objects...at least before kindergarten.

He has been having some trouble at school because of his sensory processing issue. He has "supersonic hearing" as his physical therapist told me, and it's pretty accurate. He zones in on a sound that is unpleasant to him, and then it disturbs him so much that it can interfere with his whole day. He is finally learning some coping skills to deal with this, since he will not allow earplugs in his ears to help buffer the noise...
